Chrono Trigger Super Nintendo Review
For my second Super Nintendo review I thought I'd review my second favorite game on the Super Nintendo, Chrono Trigger. This is considered the mother load of role playing games on the Super Nintendo. It was made by Square, which at the time made some of the best games in my opinion. It all starts with your hero, who is named Chrono by default, who I'll be referring as hero, wakes up the mourning of the fair. His friend Lucca will be there demonstrating her new invention. The hero bumps into a blond haired girl. She drops her medallion and the hero picks it up for her. They decide to attend the fair. They soon visit Lucca and try out her teleporting device. The hero goes through it fine but his blond haired friend's medallion interferes with the device and she disappears. The hero decides to wear the medallion and disappears after her. He finds himself outside of a familiar area but doesn't completely recognize it. It turns out he's in the past and to top it off the girl is the princess from his time. To make matters worse her ancestor is missing and they have stopped looking for her because they think she is the ancestor. This starts a chain reaction that kills the girl. It's up to the hero to help and fix this time bump. This is just for starts. He soon finds out the world is going to be destroyed in 1999 by lavos. His him and his companions decide to stop this from ever happening. This is one epic story. It takes some twists and turns. You will get to play as the hero and six other heros. One being my favorite, frog. Each has their own theme. Which brings me to the next great thing: the music. The music is so good there is a soundtrack. It may be the best music on Super Nintendo. Again my favorite theme is frogs. Each Hero does have their own story. You eventually get a time machine, which brings it's own game play mechanics. You can go in the past and change things which impact the future, like restoring a forest using Robo. There is several era such as the Jurassic era, mid evil era, present era, future era, even a end of time era. The game play is basically like final fantasy except you battle on active time and right on the map. You eventually get magic to use and tecs which you can combine. Some bosses have certain weaknesses that you have to exploit. The graphics are just a joy to look at. Some of which try to look 3d. This will be a game you will replay over and over. There is a new game plus and lets you fight lavos anytime you want and you get a different ending depending on when you fight him. There are over ten endings to watch. This game has been ported to PlayStation and Nintendo DS. Next to The Super Nintendo the DS is the best. They need to make more games like this these days. It does have a sequel for the PlayStation but I don't think it's as good as this one. I give this game 10/10 which won't happen often.
